Match Stage 2

After a fun start to Bedford Lions Premier League, things are now starting to get serious especially when there is money on It! We take a quick look at the 2nd Match Stage which will be memorable for some for taking a boat trip along to Brentford and forgettable for all of us about the result! We feature the player of the week (smiling) and a new leader at the top of the table!

Player Of The Week

Let’s cut to the chase, it was me! Against all the odds, as my predictions have been below average at best at this very early stage of the season. Then came the final game of the match week, Newcastle vs Liverpool. Liverpool took a 2-0 lead and that look liked being that, given by then they were playing against 10 men.Newcastle somehow brought it back to 2-2; another result that looked like being incorrectly predicted by me.  Then Liverpool struck a 100th minute winner to seal a 3-2 win, a perfect score and 17 points, just pipping Luke Frost for top spot of the Matchday 2 table and up to joint 6th in overall table.

New Leader

Tina Merry only scored 26 points for this match week and was replaced at the top of table by Param Basi. Param correctly predicted a 1-1 draw between Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest. He scored 48 points this week, bringing his overall total to 122. He leads Luke Frost by 11 points, with Tina slipping to third, one point further back. Very early days and it’s tight at the top with just 3 points separating Luke in 2nd and Iain Stewart in 5th.
