FPL- Gameweek 26

This week, A valuable chip spices up the title race in the Bedford Lions and Lionesses FPL. There is also some players sticking together at the top end of the table.

Triple Delight

This gameweek saw the first double gameweek which saw league leaders Arsenal go away to Brentford and Wolves, with Wolves first going away to Nottingham Forest.

Now naturally you fill up players with teams who are likely to score points with the possibility of using one of the 4 chips in the second half of the season.

Arsenal didn’t have the best of times in those two games, drawing 0-0 with Brentford and letting slip a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at Wolverhampton Wanderers. There gap has been cut at the top and in our FPL, so has George Procter’s Cash in Cash Out team. George has been out in front since gameweek 3 and had built up a healthy lead.

For some time now Aaron Basi’s Gangsters Allardyce side have been showing some resilient and shown signs of closing the gap significantly.

This gameweek he did just that, breaking 100 points barrier (102) thanks to using a Triple Captain on Arsenal’s Declan Rice. Rice assisted the first goal for Arsenal in the game at Wolves, meaning his double gameweek gave him 14 points and with the triple captain, pushing it up to 42.

He also had three other goalscorers in the team with Manchester City’s Antoine Semenyo (14) scoring in their 3-0 win over Fulham, Newcastle United Defender Malick Thiaw (11) scoring in their 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea Striker Joao Pedro netting in their 2-2 draw with Leeds United.

George’s team only scored 44 points this week despite using his wildcard chip. His lead over Aaron is just at 20 points, 1,573 overall.

The title race is definitely on!

Sticking Together

The league table can throw up some interesting if bizarre stories and this was one of them. The next 4 players after the top two, sees a joint third and joint fourth! Paul and Mark Standard have 1,497 points with Jack and Jamie Stewart in joint 4th on 1,473 points.

It has been a good competitive league so far, so much so you can go as low as 19th out of 33 teams, who have past 1,400 points and will still have some hope of glory to cling onto till end of the season.

With FA Cup 4th round action now finished, we return to Premier League and for us a home game at 3pm against Leeds United, our first Saturday 3pm kick off for 367 days! What will gameweek 27 bring?

Deadline for gameweek 27 team selections is 1:30pm on Saturday 21st February.
