Before the start of the 2025/26 Premier League, some members of the Bedford and myself made predictions. Here is a review how we got with a variety of results plus the one question we all got right!
Who will finish in the top four?
This was for the top four in the Premier League even though for second season in a row there 5 qualifiers for the Champions League. 5 points for each, no one was able to correctly predict all four- everyone scored at least 10 for going for title winners Arsenal and runners-up Manchester City. Tina and I did the best, scoring 15 points. Everyone predicted defending Champions Liverpool would be in the top four but they finished 5th. No one put Manchester United, who finished 3rd and few went for Chelsea, who ended up in 10th!

Which Three teams will be relegated?
There was a maximum of 10 points up for grabs for correctly predicting all three. Once more no one was able to get all three, with Sunderland defining the odds to finished 7th to qualify for Europe. Brentford also define the odds to stay up comfy finish in the top half. Everyone correctly predicted that Burnley would get relegated with some others getting up to 5 points by either predicting Wolves or West Ham United to join them.

Who will be Top Scorer in the Premier League?
There was more joy for most of members on this as Manchester City Striker Erling Haaland once again topped the charts with 27 goals. Only Lynne and Adam Parsons didn’t go for Haaland and instead went for Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah, who had a difficult final season for the Reds!

Where will Aston Villa finish this season?
There was 10 points up for grabs, to correctly predicting on where Aston Villa would finished in the Premier League. Once again Tina and I excelled on this, correctly predicting we would finished 4th. Jamie got 5 points for predicting 5th and the rest bar one got 2 points for 6th. We were 12 points better off then James F’s prediction of 9th!

Which Aston Villa Player Are You Most Excited About This Season?
No scoring for this round, interestingly we all choose one of three players. Donyell Malen who looks set to join AS Roma on permanent basis or one of two out of three goalscorers in that night in Istanbul- Emi Buendia and Morgan Rogers
What Competition Does Aston Villa Have The Best Chance Of Winning This Season?
All 9 members went for the same competition, the Europa League! The 3-0 win over Freiburg sealed the trophy, the 30 year long wait is over! Therefore everyone scores 26 points, get it?!
Final total
It was Tina Merry who takes the honours scoring 66 points out of possible 76. I came in 2nd with 63 points with Jamie taking bronze with 56 points.
