The Premier League is back after the World Cup and the very hot Summer.

So is the At Bedford Lions, Bedford Lions and Lionesses mini league and the battle plans begin including from the defending Champion George Procter.

We take a look at the early leader of the game and what to look forward to for the season ahead!

Early Leader

George indeed led for 37 out of 38 match stages last season including the opening week but he was able to repeat the trick.

Indeed it was Jake Downes who took the honours with his team Emerydaysaschoolday. 

He went in early by using one of his chips which like last season you can use in both half of the seasons. It was the bench boost that helped him to score 83 points in total. The majority of the big scorers came from teams in Blue.

Cole Palmer (13) and Joao Pedro (11) scored in Chelsea 3-2 win at Fulham. There was also 23 points from Everton players which included a goal from Thierno Barry (8) in their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

There was a handy 11 points scored from the bench boost including a clean sheet from Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen (6), enough said!

Special Thank You

Seems strange to make an early Thank You after Match Stage 1 but I think I can say from all Bedford Lions, we were very touched with the response. Last season we ended with 33 players, this season we have increased it to impressive 47 overall.

This will mean more competition, more banter and a bigger FPL Cup towards the end of the season.

Now we move on to gameweek 2 and the last before the end of the Summer Transfer Window! Of course that’s the Premier League and us Managers can make changes if we want to before the January one opens!
